GENERAL TIGHTENING TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS
This chart specifies tightening torques for standard fasteners with a standard ISO thread pitch. Tightening torque specifications for special components or assemblies are provided for each chapter of this manual. To avoid warpage, tighten multi-fastener assemblies in a crisscross pattern and progressive stages until the specified tightening torque is reached. Unless otherwise specified, tightening torque specifications require clean, dry threads. Components should be at room temperature.

Cylinder head bolt
Tighten all the cylinder head tightening bolts evenly in the tightening order to 30 N·m (3.0 kgf·m, 22 lb·ft). Remove the one bolt according to the tightening order. When doing so, do not remove the other bolts. Retighten the bolt to 15 N·m (1.5 kgf·m, 11 lb·ft), and then tighten it further to reach the specified angle (60°). Remove the remaining bolts one by one in the same manner and retighten them. Finally, tighten all the bolts to reach the specified angle (60°). Total tightening angle: 60° + 60° = 120° (The first and second time, be sure to apply molybdenum disulfide oil to the bolt threads and seats as well as to both sides of the lock washers.)
